The Fun Questions Tag!

Hey all!

It's been a long time since I last posted and in the past week or so quite a lot has gone on, some good some a bit worse but overall I'm so happy with the way it's gone on and things have worked out for the best. Anyway, I thought I'd do a tag because I've not had much tim to write content in the last week or so because we got a new tutor at college who is less than good but I'm sure she'll sort herself out anyway I shall get on with the Fun Questions Tag! Enjoy dearies! 

1) When is your birthday? 

December 14th 1995 - I'm a winter baby!

2) What are 3 of your favorite colors?

Silver, Gold and red at the moment, although silver is my absolute favourite colour.

3) What are your 3 favorites quotes?

"Life is not about waiting for the storms to pass, it's learning to dance in the rain" - I'm not sure who said that I just have a picture of the quote stored in my phone.

4) Are you addicted to YouTube?

Um... Maybe... Possibly. Yes. I have a problem! *sobs heartily*

Once Upon A Time, American Horror Story Doctor Who.

6) What are 3 qualities you like in a best friend?

Humour, loyalty and kindness.

7) Do you like your name? 

My full name is Katherine Hayley Jazz Savage Simpson but I'm known as Katy Simpson. I hate Katy Simpson but I love Katherine Hayley Jazz Savage, if that made any sense at all.

8) If you have the choice to pick your own name, what will it be?

Ruby Pleasant, because rubies are my favourite gems and I'm obsessed with the Skulduggery Pleasant series!

9) What is your fantasy dream?

For Skulduggery Pleasant to save me from some danger and I become his partner... that's not weird right? Right?

10) Do you wear makeup?

I do, not all the time but I wear it o college sometimes and when I'm off out or going to a party or something. 

11) If you could write a book, what would the title be and what would it be about?

I have no idea about the title but I do write a little and at the moment I'm writing a short horror novella type thing with possession and demons and stuff. I love scaring myself witless to be honest. 

12) What makes you cry?

I cry when I see my friends and family upset, anything to do with hurting animals or children, Disney movies... pretty much everything. 

13) What makes you angry?

Ignorance, when people talk about others behind their back in a malicious way, homo/bi/transphobia etc and discrimination for any reason... and politics.

14) What makes you happy?

Books, books and more books, days out with my best friends, cosy nights in, spending time with the family. 

15) What is "Fangirling?"

See the picture? That is what fangirls/fangirling is.

16) What are your 3 favorites snacks?

I really like shredded coconut, sliced almonds and strawberries.

17) What are your 3 favorite foods?

Pizza, my grandmas sunday dinner and stir fry are my all time favourite foods. 

18) What are your 3 favorite drinks?

Water, Milk (with or without tea) and Shlœr, yummy.

19) Can you tell us a little about yourself?

Well, I'm 19, I'm a plus size blogger, I live in the North East of England, I'm obsessed with Harry Potter and Skulduggery Pleasant. I can sing, play piano and clarinet. I'm pretty cool and I love rainy days.

20) What are 10 random facts about you?

- I'm a Slytherin on Pottermore

- I can sing in German, Polish, Russian and Mandarin.

- I can perfectly recite every single line of Mulan throughout the whole movie. 

- I used to want to be a stripper when I was younger...

- I got my Mam to buy me a 'make your own skeleton' type thing but stopped buying after the head purely cause I wanted to recite Shakespear.

- I'm an only child.

- I have no idea what I want to do with my life.

- I want to live in the Scottish or Irish countryside.

- I'm single although I have various celebrity and non-celebrity crushes at the moment. 

- I have over 150 different types of nail polish.

My Everyday Make Up Look - Go-To Products

This post is something I've been both really looking forward to and one I've been seriously dreading. I'm far from the most confident gal around town but my confidence and self-esteem has sky rocketed these last few months because I've changed my whole attitude towards myself and it's really helped. Anyway, this post, as the title says, is going to be about my go-to make up look that I usually wear everyday for college or just going out or whatever. The reason I brought my confidence is because this will be only the second time ever that I've posted a picture of myself online, I'm always apprehensive when I do post selfies. Any who I'm babbling so I'm going to get on with the post!

The picture on the left shows some of the products I use to create my everyday natural (ish) make up look, these products are my favourite and I've used some of them for years. I'm going to quickly explain how exactly I create this look and review some of the products as I go along. 

Before applying any make up at all I usually give my face a quick wash or go over it with a Clearasil Ultra Rapid Action pad to remove any dirt from my pores. These work really well and clear my pores right away.

I then apply my Make Up Academy Pro Base Primer evenly, I don't use any brushes for this as I don't see the need. After applying the primer I use my Garnier Skin Perfector BB Cream, this is absolutely fantastic and instantly hides any blemishes on your face not matter what, I find this really helpful as I often have to wax my upper lip and areas on my chin because of a preexisting condition and that can cause scarring but this cream covers it immediately, it's a godsend and I'd buy tons of it if I could. (Note: these are all my own opinions). Other than on my eyes and my brows and when using blush or bronzer I tend not to use brushes when applying make up purely because I find that i get a more even and natural look from using my fingers, this again is my own personal opinion, some people may want to use brushed instead. 

After that I use my MAC Studio Fix powder foundation. This is a good product depending on the time of year for me as my skin around my T-zone can get very dry, when this happens i absolutely can't use this product because it just sticks to any dry areas of my skin despite using facial wipes and such before hand. Next I will do mah brows, I use a HD Brows (Foxy) and that is pictured to the right. I have dark eyebrows anyway so I only really need to use it on the ends of my brows; I use the bottom right colour on the palette pictured to the right. 

For my eyes I use a Natural Beauty palette I got for Christmas off my Mam, I love this palette because literally every colour on there goes with my skin tone and looks fabulously natural, perfect for everyday wear. I usually start off with a white on my lid and brow bone to highlight, then I colour the lid with a natural light creamy colour, a brown along the lid and a deep brown in the crease of my eye. I blend the colours together from there and I end up with a brown and golden smokey eye. I've always loved the smokey eye look. 

After doing my eye makeup I move on to the lashes, applying a coat of Natural Collection clear mascara, waiting for that to dry then applying a bolder coat of either black or deep brown from the Natural collection again. This gives my lashed a lot more length and they look much bolder once finished. Also Natural Collection is fantastic for the majority of people who have allergies to regular make up as it doesn't contain half of the chemicals used in ordinary beauty products. My lips are next and at the moment I'm using MAC A04 Dare You, this colour goes on really evenly and you only need one layer because it's such a solid colour, I love this because it makes my lips really aft after use.

Finally I use my Avon Glow Bronzing Pearls and my Avon Makeup Setting Spray (pearls pictured above, to the left), I apply the bronzing pearls to my T-zone and cheek bones very lights to give a natural tanned look making sure it isn't too defined or dark because that can make me look as though I've used a brown blush, which I do not suit at all because of my naturally olive skin tone. A couple of quick sprays of the makeup setting spray on my face (about 25-30cm from the face) and my look is complete. The image below is my finished look and although the image is bad quality you will be able to see that my face is clear of blemishes near enough and that my look, other than the eyes, is very natural. I chose to use my blogger "profile" picture as the image to show my natural look off best, this is only because I really like this picture of myself and I think it shows the colour of the make up very well. Review: Gellish Nails!

Hi All!

This post is going to be all about Gellish Nails! Anyone who has known me for more than a few hours will know I'm an absolute nail polish freak, I've got over 200 different coloured nail polishes and over 90 nail polish brands including Barry M and Rimmel London. Rimmel being my favourite because it goes on so well and the colours are stunning. Anyhow, I usually do my nails myself just because I'm OCD and can't deal with uneven nail polish so I only trust myself to do it; however, I'm pretty rough with my hands as I work with children and often on a simulation hospital ward which is hard work at times, so my polish always chips very easily regardless of the number of coats or type of polish I use.

So, I decided to throw caution to the wind and go to my favourite local beauty salon and have my nails professionally done. Initially I was simply getting a deep red polish for Christmas but I fell in love with the deep purple and gold sparklies which I though would be more Christmassy, so I ended up getting professional quality gel nail polish and I have found this type of polish to be SO much better than any I've ever tried before. Below I've noted some of the best points about Gellish Nails:

• It strengthens the nail itself. The polish is so strong that even if your nails bend and snap easily (like mine) you simply can not bend them to that degree.
• It never loses its shine. I've had mine on a while now and they're still as shiny as the day they went on, in fact they could be mistaken for acrylics.
• The colours are stunning. Who doesn't love a nice colour?
• They're up to 3 weeks chip resistant. This is a godsend for those of you, like me, who are always working with your hands or tend to chip polish easily.
• It dries very quickly. If you've got a UV light to dry them under your nails will be finished within 20 minutes, completely.
• Rather cheap. Depending on where you go the prices tend to be rather good, mine were £15, however other salons in my area will charge an astronomical £30!
• They're so pretty! Need I say more?

Overall Gellish nails are definitely worth the price because they're such high quality and the benefits are massive.
