My Future Tag!

Hey everyone!
I've been thinking loads about my future lately considering I'm starting to gather info on the Uni I want to go to, writing my personal statement and thinking about having children because I'm working with them and I've decided a good way to get my thoughts out would be doing the future tag, so here we are. There's 10 questions and I will answer them as honestly as possible and in as much detail as I can muster today (I'm feeling kinda lazy).

1. Where do you see yourself in 10 years? I see myself working as a social worker managing fostering and adoption, a couple of children, hopefully I'll own my own home and be married or at least be in a relationship with someone I truly love.
2. Do you want to get married? I would really love to get married at some point, I've practically planned my whole wedding down to the last detail. I've even picked a colour scheme, ivory and deep crimson as they're two of my favourite colours and I think they look really elegant at weddings.
3. Do you want to have children? 1,000,000% yes! I've wanted children since I was a child myself but I'm hoping to have my children in my early/mid twenties. Unfortunately I may not be able to have children naturally but I've always wanted to adopt at least one child so either way I'll definitely be having a baby at some point. :)
4. Do you want to move? If yes, where? I've said in a previous post that I'd love to live in the country, maybe in Scotland or Ireland, I'm a home bird so I think if I move I'll make sure my family move too or I'll say where they are.
5. What would your dream house look like? I don't think my dream house would be anything flashy to be honest. I like the idea of having a house thats big enough for all the family and a couple of annexes for my parents and grandparents to live in so we can all live where we want in the country but still have space. I'm a neat freak so it'll be neat and tidy all the time.
6. What is your dream job? My ultimate dream job would be to own my own successful bookshop or private daycare/nursery. However I am quite content to settle for being a social worker managing fostering and adoption.
7. What are 5 things you want to do before you die? In no particular order, I want to have children, I want to see my family happy and content, I want to own my own home, preferably own a bentley (they're my favourite cars!) and I want to visit Ireland.
8. Are you scared of the future? I'm not scared of the future, I'm more scared of running out of time to do the things I really want to do.
9. What's your biggest dream you'd like to achieve in life? Some people might lath or scoff at this but I want to be a good mother to any children I have and make my family proud of me in whatever way I can.
10. What would be the ideal age for you to die? I don't think any age is ideal to die. I just want to enjoy every single minute I have left.
I tag everyone to do this, if you read it have a go!

The British Tag!

Hey Everyone!
This post is the British Tag which I recently saw on Aymie Louise's blog and once I'd had a read through I knew I had to do it! I love everything that's quintessentially British and couldn't pass on the opportunity to do this tag. Read on and enjoy my follow England lovers!

How many cups of tea a day do you have and how many sugars?
Well I always have a cup of tea on a morning, if it's a cold morning I'll have it with two sugars and a cup of tea before bed with no sugars, throughout the day though I can't really give a number because sometime I have so many cups of tea I genuinely lose count. Usually no sugars with those and definitely over 3 cups a day.

Favourite dunking biscuit?
A plain Mcvities Rich Tea biscuit is the perfect dunking biscuit in my opinion. Although you've got to have some skill when dunking them because too long and they break off and that means a new cup of tea is needed, not long enough and it's overly crunchy.

Favourite part of your roast?
My veggies with gravy is definitely the best part of a roast, I particularly like Brussels sprouts and mashed potato. i like every part of a roast though and a roast isn't complete without Yorkshire Puds.

Favourite quintessentially British pastime?
Oh for this I'd have to say that my favourite quintessentially British pass time has to be sitting down with a god book and a cup of tea and tea cake. There's nothing like it and the rainy British weather sets the perfect atmosphere for it I think.

Favourite word?
Spiffing is one of my favourite British words, you never hear it used often enough.

Cockney rhyming slang?
I have absolutely no idea and I won't put anything here because my knowledge of cockney rhyming slang is little to none and I may end up offending some cockney people.

Favourite sweet?
Sherbert Lemons are my favourite sweets, I absolutely love them and every time I go to Beamish (a famous museum that tells the sorry of people in the North East of England during the Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian periods) I will always get myself some Sherbert Lemons without fail. I'm also inclined to remind everyone that Dumbledore was partial to our muggle sherbet lemons.

What would your pub be called?
Not a clue, probably something like Queen Liz or a name along those lines, most pubs tend to to have royal themed names or animal themed names and if I named it after an animal it would end up being something daft like The Hamster and Horse... Best stick to a royal name.

Favourite British person?
I have two, I love Benedict Cumberbatch so obviously he is my No 1. male Brit, he's fab in Sherlock and to be honest he's probably the most British British person there is on TV nowadays anyway. However, my favourite British female is definitely Emma Watson, I think that woman is fab and she's definitely a good role model for anyone to look to.

Favourite shop/restaurant?
Any Cath Kidstone shop is my favourite, her designs are beautiful and so elegant, if I could live in one of her shops I would without hesitation. Plus she's an English designer so it fits in quite well with the British Tag.

What British song pops into you head?
In the spirit of all things British the first song that popped into my head was Queen - Don't Stop Me Now. Also one of my favourite bands of all time!

Marmite?
I absolutely detest Marmite, you couldn't pay me to even get near a jar of the stuff.
I hope everyone enjoyed reading this post.

The Liebster Award

I wasn't sure of what exactly the Liebster Award was although I'd heard several bloggers discuss it and it had piqued my interest although I'd not planned on doing it until I was tagged by Aymie Louise yesterday. Ta for the nomination my dear!
I've nabbed the rules from Aymie's blog:

  • Thank and Link the person who nominated you -Check
  • Answer the nominators questions - Find my answers below
  • Nominate 11 small blogs with under 200 followers who you believe deserve this award
  • Create 11 new question for your nominees to answer
  • Notify those nominees via social media/blogs
What type of music do you listen to? Include examples
I've said in a few previous posts that I tend to listen to a mix of music but some of my favourites and most listened to include Queen, McBusted, The Beatles, Taylor Swift, Demi Lovato and  Dolly Parton and so on. I guess my music taste is pretty varied.

What is your favourite movie?
No question, Disney's Mulan is my favourite. I remember watching it for the first time when I was much younger, I absolutely adored it and nearly 15 years later I still adore the movie. I also know every word to every song in it.

What three places would you put at the top of your travel bucket list?
Oh good question... I think Ireland would be right at the top of my list, I'd love to go to a cosy little cottage in the Irish country, I love rain and typically "bad" weather so Ireland would be great for me. Next would be Hawaii, I'm Disney crazy and I've always wanted to go to the place where Lilo and Stitch lived when I was a little kid, now I'd love to go to Hawaii because  most of the views look amazing! Finally I would love to go to America and do a road trip and go to every state, there's loads of history and culture in America so I think hat would be a really fun trip to go on.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
I have rather bad eyesight so I'd love to change that, it would be fab to take my glasses off and be able to see perfectly for once. Also I'd be spending less on frames and lenses haha.

What's your dream job?
My dream job would definitely be owning my own bookshop, that would be like a dream come true having a quaint and cosy little bookshop in Whitby. At least that way I can make a living with my favourite things, books.

Who is your hero/inspiration?
I have two, it's a tie between my mother and my grandmother. They are the strongest women I know and they've both been through so much in their lives yet they've managed to raise children and keep a wonderful home as well as teaching me some of the most important lessons that I've learned so far.

What's your biggest fear?
Spiders.
What's your favourite season?
Winter is my favourite seasons because of Christmas, my birthday, the weather and general loveliness during that time.

Sweet or Savoury?
I'm a total carnivore, I love meat so I'm definitely a savoury person. I have to really fancy sweet things to eat them.

Are you an introvert of an extrovert?
I'm rather introverted, I prefer to listen that to talk and I'm usually the wallflower at parties or gatherings. Although I do have extrovert tendencies when I'm with good friends.

Why did you start blogging?
I started blogging as a way to jut vent, I find writing really relaxing so whats a better way to relax than write about things I love on my own blog?! :)

I'm going to nominate the blogs I love most:

Sorry that I couldn't think of 11 but these are my favourite small blogs.

My Questions:
What's your favourite topic to blog about? E.G. lifestyle, fashion, beauty etc.
How long have you been blogging?
What's your favourite type weather?
Are you a laid back or highly strung person?
You can move anywhere in the world, where would you most like to live?
Who is your favourite singer/band?
What's your favourite TV show?
What's your favourite book?
What's your favourite childhood memory?
Who is your blogging/vlogging inspiration?
Vintage or contemporary music?

The Book Tag! A.K.A The Ultimate Book Tag!

Hi All!
I found this tag on books with bite and because, as many of you already know, I am a MASSIVE bookworm I jumped at the chance to have a go at this myself, I've always loved books and I adore blogging about books so I hope reading this post will be as fun for you as writing it was for me!

Do you get sick while reading in the car?
No not at all, in fact if I'm not driving and I have even a short journey I will definitely take a book and read it for as long as I possibly can. That's one of the worst things about being able to drive yourself, you don't get the pleasure of reading in a car any more.

Which Authors writing styles completely unique to you and why?
Regardless of the fact that I adore the series I do have to say Derek Landy, there is something about his writing that can build up tension exactly when it's needed, he can make me cry and laugh out loud no matter how many times I've read his books. I've literally been in public and laughed out loud at the sarcastic witticism his characters come out with. Plus his characters are utterly loveable, even the villains have something appealing about them.

Harry Potter series or Twilight Saga? Give three Points to support your answer!
Harry Potter series... Always.
1) J.K. Rowling is really detailed with her descriptions so I can see everything really clearly in my mind's eye.
2) Peeves!
3) Snape and Lilly, need I say more?

Do you carry a book bag, if so what's in it? Excluding books
Currently my book bag is a cream canvas book bag that says 'I bloody love books' which is so true! It currently has in it the books I'm reading, those being Skulduggery Pleasant Kingdom of the Wicked, my headphones and iPod, some feminine necessities, my inhaler and my purse. That's about it, I only take what I absolutely need in my bags.

Do you smell your books?
Of course! One of my favourite smells in the world is a book, old or new the smell is just so comforting and homely and I love it. That and Prada candy perfume are my two favourite smells.

Books with or without little illustrations?
I can read books with or without little illustrations but I tend to think if they do have little illustrations that they give the book a bit more character. I like the illustrations and revel in them when I find a book that has them in.

What book did you love while reading but later discovered it wasn't quality writing?
For me it had to be Fifty Shades of Grey, I read all three books within 5 days and honestly whilst I was reading them I thought "wow yeah! That's some quality writing, the plot is great!"... That was when the first books came out, since then I've read many other books such as The Fault in Our Stars (John Green), The Mall (S.L. Grey and Letter To My Daughter (Maya Angelou) and I've realised how wrong I was, the writing is shoddy, tacky and the whole plot seems like a bored housewife's boring daydream. Sometimes I think I could have written a better book with more passion and fire that that and as I've mentioned before I'm not a good writer.

Do you have any funny stories involving books from your childhood?
I don't have any funny stories from my childhood although about 6 months ago I went into Waterstones in Durham city and bought a few books including a couple of Stephen King books and John Green books and a cute guy commented on my good purchases and I ended up attempting to flirt outrageously with him until I dropped all my books on my toe and swore rather loudly, thankfully he flashed me a gorgeous grin and helped pick up the books he was only a couple years older than me but I swear my heart skipped a beat once I'd gotten over the initial mortification.

What is the thinnest book on your shelf?
The thinnest book on my chef by far is Maya Angelou's Letters To My Daughter, this book is absolutely wonderful and warms my heart every time I read it.

What is the thickest book on your shelf?
The thickest book on my shelf is probably The Complete Adventures of Sherlock Holmes by Arthur Conan Doyle. I only read these books in 2014 and I've never gotten into book so quickly as I got into those, Doyle was a fab writer with an eye for deduction and logic.

Do you write as well as read? Do you see yourself as being an author in the future?
I would LOVE to be a writer but I'm honestly not very good at it, I'm quite good at writing short stories and I do that occasionally but I'm much more of a reader than a writer, there's nothing better than getting lost in a good book.

When did you get into reading?
When I was round about 3 I started to read fluently, I remember when I was at nursery I hated reading because I got so upset that everyone else was reading but I felt like I was getting nowhere so I came home one day and just cried to my grandma because I couldn't read and I really wanted to. I was such a cute child. Who am I kidding, I'm still cute. :)

What is your favourite classic book?
Mary Shelley's Frankenstein is one of my absolute favourites without a doubt! I first read this in year 10 and usually when I'm told to read a book, like for a book report or something, I struggle to get into it as I like to find my own books to read but this book just grabbed me right away. I have no idea why as it was't particularly fast paced or action packed but it's a very good book that I'd recommend to anyone.

In school was your best subject English?
English wasn't actually, I hated English language but that's all we id up until year 10 when we finally started English literature which obviously I loved! We were made to read To Kill a Mockingbird, Frankenstein, The Strange Case of Dr Jeckyll and Mr Hyde and another book I can't remember, it was a really good lesson.

If you were given a book as a gift that you'd read and hated what would you do?
Personally I always believe that if I'm given a book I don't like there will always be someone out there who will appreciate it or enjoy it therefore I will give them to whomever I think the book suits.

What's a lesser known series that you know of that's similar to Harry Potter/Hunger Games?
The only series I can think of is the Percy Jackson series! I adore those and I've even gotten my mother into reading them to ha! I love anything like Harry Potter although I have to admit I simply can't get into the Hunger Games, maybe I'll try again later this year.

Are you a nerd, dork or dweeb?
All of the above... or so I've been called numerous times. I like to think of myself as a nerd.

What's your favourite word?
Scintillating. I love that word and I have no idea why, it's just fun to say and fun to read. I will provide you with scintillating conversation... most times anyway.

Vampires or fairies? Why?
As a main character I like vampires, mainly because I find they're more versatile characters to work with and read about but in general I like fairies... because they're cute.

Shapeshifters or angles? Why?
I think shapeshifters are really cool and in a book my attention is immediately grabbed by a shapeshifter, one example of that is the aminagi in the Harry Potter books. Not sure if I've spelled that correctly but whatever.

Spirits or werewolves? Why?
Werewolves definitely. I've always been intrigued by werewolves, they're pretty damn cool.

Zombies or vampires?
I like zombies, I love zombie books and I'll always go for a zombie movie or book if I'm looking for a scare, mainly because I have a terrible and irrational fear of zombies...

Love triangle or forbidden love?
Never forbidden love for me, usually with forbidden love I find that the books are very brooding or sullen and I can't stand reading books like that, I'm not keen on love triangles but as long as there is a happy ending or there is romance of some sort in a book, even if that love never comes to fruition, that's a good romance story for me.

Full on romance books or action packed with a few love scenes mixed in?
Personally I like a mix, if a book has too much romance going on it can take away from the initial plot line itself but if a writer is leaving their readers hanging when they want to see some romance going on their readers can get frustrated with too much action. I think you've got to find a book with the right balance and it's important to note that just because there isn't romance in a book doesn't mean it can't be jam packed with love.
A few books I got for Christmas

The Beauty Tag

Hi Everyone!
One of my new years resolutions that wasn't mentioned on my resolutions post (find that here) was to make sure I post more fashion and beauty type things. I haven't really been doing many of those but, that's mainly because, I was really stuck for ideas as to what to write for them. Now after brainstorming last night because I couldn't sleep I thought a good way to kickstart the beauty aspect of my blog would be to do the beauty tag! I'll only be answering 20 questions but there will be a few more posts similar to this one coming up for beauty and fashion; enjoy!

How often do you wear makeup?
I wear make up when I'm going out, usually to an event or a meal or whatever is going on. I wear a little when I go to college or to the shops but I don't go all out with it, I never ever wear make up in the house unless I'm just messing around with new looks.

Would you leave the house without make up?
Oh yeah definitely, if you can go out without make up and still feel beautiful and confident I would say the self esteem might need some work, then again I know some people love make up that much they they wear it all the time and that's totally fine, it's all about preference.

What do you use in terms of skin care?
At the moment I'm using Simple kind to skin purifying cleansing lotion which is fantastic! it keeps my skin smooth and clear and it's also helped balance out my skin tone. I also use the kind to skin facial cleansing wipes they just help to again keep my skin smooth and I use them predominantly at night. I use Clerasil blackhead clearing scrub also because I have issues with blackheads sometimes and this just helps keep them at bay. Finally I use the Olay double action day and night creams.

What type of skin do you have, oily, dry or combination?
I have combination skin usually however there are certain days where my skin can get really oily and always in the winter it gets very dry. On the whole though it's definitely combination skin.

Do you ever have any spot breakouts because of wearing make up?
Nope, I don't usually have a problem with spots as my skin is relatively clear minus a few uneven skin tones and such, when I do have a breakout it usually comes from issues to do with waxing. If I do have a breakout though I will avoid make up just to be sure it does't make it worse.

Do you avoid certain ingredients in cosmetics such as paragons or sulfate?
Actually yes. I'm allergic to a LOT of non-organic make up so when I buy things I have to make sure they're organic or my whole face will start to burn and I get red splotches, which I then cover up with make up that defeats the whole point haha.

What foundation do you use and what coverage do you prefer?
Just now, I'm using Rimmel London Match Perfection foundation with SPF 18 in Ivory. It's long lasting and gives a great smooth and radiant look. I also use Garnier BB cream skin perfecter and Rimmel London Stay Matte pressed powder.

Do you use a base or primer for you face/eyes?
I do, I use the Make Up Academy Pro Base Primer.

Pencil or liquid eyeliner?
Liquid eyeliner is my favourite, I very rarely wear eyeliner but when I do I much prefer liquid. I just really need to work on my application technique...

Do you wear false lashes?
NO, I have pretty long eyelashes anyway so I just usually apply a clear mascara and a brown mascara on top of that to make them look slightly more prominent and natural. i really can't stand falsies and think they look daft although that's just my personal opinion.

What're you using on your lips at the moment?
Oh so many different lipsticks! I love lipsticks and I use two Mac lipsticks that I can not remember the name of and two lipsticks from... Primark! The Primark lipsticks smell lovely and they go on really well and stay for over 12 hours!

Do you prefer lipgloss or lipstick?
I like the look of lipgloss but I prefer lipstick so I tend to cheat and apply my lipstick and put a tiny, thin layer of vaseline over he top just to give it a bit of gloss and get the best of both worlds.

What're you using on your eyes at the moment?
I'm not using any particular brand only at the moment I'm using a mix of brands and the colours tend to be 3 different types blended together. I mainly use browns and golds for everyday make up looks.

What is your go to mascara?
My current mascara is Natural Collection clear waterproof mascara, from Boots as a first coat then Essence Get Big Lashes Volume Boost Waterproof mascara as a second coat.

Do you prefer blush or bronzer?
My skintone is a light olive so I tend to avoid colours like pinks, reds and so on for my face and eyes. I love bronzer and I use that all year round, it gives a really lovely warm look to my face in winter and a tanned look in summer.

What type or look do you go for, heavy and bold or light and natural?
That depends on the occasion, last year for halloween I had a silver and deep grey smokey eye look but that was for a party. For every day I tend to go very light and neutral, colours like light browns, light berries, sometimes I do like bold looks on my eyes such as deep blue, purples or silvers. Usually though would have to say light and natural.

How often do you shop for make up? Do you pick up items one at a time or but lots of goodies? When it comes to my spending habits i'm very tight fisted and hate spending my money. That being said when I do get started on shopping it's very difficult to stop me. I buy in bulk so I shop for make up whenever something vital to my collection runs out and I but loads of goodies at once.

Have you ever considered taking a make up class?
Oh definitely! I would absolutely love to, I've considered taking a night class in hair and beauty at my college. I think it's really worth looking into as I'd love to know how to do a really professional looking smokey eye.

Who is your beauty guru?
I wouldn't say I had one in particular as I love so many! My main two would be Sami Maria (BeautyCrush) and Tess Christine, they both tend to go for the same type of looks which I adore but I sometimes have to change the colours they use as they're either to light or too dark for my skin tone so I mix it up by looking at videos by Bethany Mota and Pixiwoo.

What do you think the best thing about make up is?
The best thing about make up is that if I'm feeling low or my skin looks awful I know I have my make up on hand to cover it up and make myself feel a bit better. Make up hides a multitude of sins.
Thanks for reading all.
